One Little Duck Becomes A Moneymaker
Posted under: Must be something in the air as for the last week or so I’ve been updating the look of several websites and in the midst of searching around for wordpress themes decided that the Moneymaker Theme from Unique Blog Designs would be ideal for One Little Duck. However, there’s some irony in using this theme as OLD isn’t exactly a moneymaker blog (well it doesn’t make anything actually, which isn’t a problem although perhaps it’s something I should start considering at some point).
Having hacked about a little bit with the theme, it’s probably not going to make anything ever! Out have gone the 468×60 banner links contained within the theme and the sponsors section currently hosts the Loquax logo as opposed to any paid sponsors!
Rule number one when putting together a website – have room for sponsors and advertisers!
Anyway out also goes the old ducks on the grass too! I did try and include that within this theme, but it just looked wrong. The new purple duck reflects the avatar I use on MyBlogLog so there’s a tie in there – and one duck fits in with the title!
One thing I really like about this theme is the paging plugin – it makes the whole wordpress thing a lot neater. OLD now also has recent comments, tags, sharethis social milarky stuff (which I’m not overly fussed about) and other bits and bobs. Importantly though the content remains the same!
The best thing about the theme though is that it was free.
Unique Blog Designs offer other paid for themes, including a new set of citrus themes (although I’m not overly keen on these ones), but Moneymaker is available for nowt. It’s an easy theme to get to grips with and with a bit of messing about you can customise it to how you want things to look.
Nice new theme Jason, you might want to change the $ sign to a £ sign in the Sponsor header in the left column, unless that is of course you are looking for American sponsors
