Today’s The Day For Christmas Sales
1 Comment December 4, 2006 / Posted in Web StuffAccording to a news article on Sky News “Monday, December 4, 2006 is set to be Britain’s top day for online shopping”! This follows last Monday being Cyber Monday which is also “a busy day for online retailers” and I’m pretty sure there was a radio report last week saying that Friday (just gone) was going to be the busiest day for online retailers.
Not that I’m cynical, but these kind of reports to seem to be designed to whip up a bit of a sales frenzy and get people into getting online as soon as possible to start their shopping. No doubt there are increased sales, but another notable fact is that a lot of stores are running discounts and sales on a lot of items already. Are things booming? Will there be a last minute rush? Will today really be the day?
The weather could well have a bearing on how people shop this year - why go into town and battle the elements when you can do all your shopping online, but what odds that next week they’ll be another report saying that “today’s going to be the busiest day”?
