Copy & Paste Content Snafflers

One of the biggest frustrations of being an affiliate is having what you’re writing being lifted and used on another site. It’s inevitable that competitors will drop in and see what you’re up to or try and work out what you do, but it’s something else when lazy good for nothing affiliates just come along and copy your content.

Now I can’t be too precious on this as the content was from the sites being promoted – albeit adjusted to read better and make a bit of sense. For example Gillian McKeith is doing a webchat – I’ve no idea who she was so Googled and added “Gillian is also the straight talking star of the hit Channel 4 diet and lifestyle series You Are What You Eat” and additional promotional blurb.

The exact same content has since (within 6 hours) been copied and pasted into the news section of a competitor’s website – they can’t claim they’ve used content from the site they’re promoting as yes you’ve guessed it their copy also contains the phrase added above. (In fact if you look at their news section and compare it to ours it has some remarkable similarities in the flow of articles – which led to a few checks).

Anyway an email has been sent off requesting politely for now they don’t copy. It also reminds me to make sure all our content is suitably rewritten so that it’s easy to spot the copy and paste content snafflers!
