Affiliate Gadgets – A Remote Controlled Duck
Posted under: A slightly less serious post before the follow up to the iframe/forced clicks appears! The more observant of you might have noticed a kind of duck thing going on here and on a few other sites. I have a slightly odd affinity towards them, perhaps because they’ve been a lucky charm of sorts, and whilst I’m not (entirely) surrounded by them I do have a fair few rubber ducks scattered around the house.
The down side to this is that ducks don’t do much except sit on the shelf or bob about in the bath. Occasionally they look like Elvis or Darth Vadar and maybe change colour, but they don’t move! Why is this? I’ve got a remote controlled Ferrari but not a remote controlled duck! In fact, it’s actually impossible to buy one although you can get a decoy duck.
If you can’t buy something – you have to build it! So take one Giant Duck and one Battling Robot from I Want One of Those – and with a little bit of ingenuity (i.e. you stuff the deflated robot inside the duck) you get a remote control duck (hmm, maybe I should patent this idea – however, the mass market for remote controlled ducks perhaps may be limited – unless of course it becomes the must have toy for Christmas 2007).
