Gutless, Spineless, Disasterous

Spent all day trying to think of how best to describe the awful display put up by Southampton today against Portsmouth. You’d never have thought the players were in a relegation battle against their fiercest rivals – like rabbits entranced by headlights Saints were torn apart by a fast moving, passionate, want to win Portsmouth side.

It could have all been different had keeper Niemi not decided this was the game he’d make every goalkeeping blunder possible. And it could have been even more different had we played a defence and put a few midfielders on the park too. I’ve seen some pretty poor Southampton performances in the past but today was just awful – and Saintsforever pretty much say the same thing.

Today there was no passion, no heart, no spine, no guts – and unless a miracle happens they’ll be no Premiership football next season at St Marys. Based on today’s display it’s no wonder.
