Duck Gets Unsuspended And Flies From Hostroute

Hopefully One Little Duck will now be easier to access as the site has left it’s treacalised home of Hostroute and taken up residence on a Positive Internet Dolphin Server along with some other blog based sites we run.

At times I’ve been able to visit several network sites check my stats and still not have One Little Duck loaded in – access has been that bad. Ticket after ticket had gone in to Hostroute, and to be fair the support staff have always responded.

On Monday, after posting on the blog, access was dire so in went another ticket. When I checked the One Little Duck a couple of hours later it had been suspended – which was nice! According to Hostroute a few sites were suspended “for using excessive MySQL connections”. I’m not techie enough to know how this can be avoided, but if a few visitors to a WordPress blog site causes them issues, then something in my opinion isn’t right with their set up.

And as you can’t host a website on a server that is slow and becomes clogged up at the slightest sign of traffic the decision was taken to move to a new home. A big thanks to my business partner who sorted out the transitions.

It will be interesting to see how the sites now perform – not only in terms of visitors but also revenue generation and search engines. Has the poor hosting access had any effect on them?

Most certainly it’s nice to be able to visit the site and find it loading in!

Would I recommend Hostroute to other affiliates? They’re ok for a few page websites, but if you’re thinking of using them to host a blog or anything with substance then, based on this experience, I’d suggest that you look elsewhere!
