I saw this advertised sometime ago, but it’s finally on sale (well on preorder) in the UK at PC World: Star Wars R2D2 Multifunction Projector! At just under £2000 this is one expensive gadget, but surely it would grace any affiliate’s office or home! Even better if PC World, or another merchant, decided to offer it as a prize (buying stuff is ok, winning things for free is so much nicer). You can preorder your own R2D2 and it’s expected to be available from September 2007.

So what’s the excitement for? Well, it’s a projector, an Ipod speaker, a radio, a remote control toy and it’s, well, it’s R2D2 from Star Wars and makes authentic beeping noises… what more could you want?

R2D2 Projector This is the droid we’re looking for! It beeps, it projects, but it won’t make the tea!

Well, a lot more really! Storage for a lightsaber that pops out would be cool, but perhaps unrealistic. Integrated wifi perhaps? Ability to play PS3 or Xbox 360 games (it’s only able to project PS1 and PS2 according to the blurb at Nikko R2D2 – and room for a drinks tray ala Return of the Jedi on Jabba’s barge! Let’s face it, once you’ve shown your mates (or office visitors) a few times what your droid does then it really has little use other than as a glorified hostess trolley.

If £1999 for a half life sized droid complete with Millennium Falcon remote control is too much then there’s always the R2D2 Webcam which is available at £299!

Anyway, this begs the question… what are the ultimate affiliate gadget must haves?
