You Know It’s Almost Christmas…

You know it’s almost Christmas Day as merchants start sending you their Valentine’s Day creative and asking you what you’ve got planned for 2009 (take a bow Mr P. Box)! That’s great organisation, albeit perhaps too organised! I really think no one should mention roses and love hearts until the fat bloke has dropped down the chimney.

Anyway affiliate marketing can go all go to one side for the next week or so as there’s turkey to eat, wine to drink, rugby to watch, football to get depressed too, Xbox games to play and loads of movies to watch.

Of course it never really works like that as a lull in eating, drinking, watching etc usually means checking email followed by a “oooh I think I’ll spend 5 minutes updating that website with that offer followed by an oh bugger it’s broken, the feeds are down, the merchant has changed network and it’s going to take the whole festive holiday to get it sorted”!

There’s also the Christmas Sales, Winter Sales and January Sales to contend with (Didn’t you just like things when January Sales meant sales that start in January – how can you have a January Sale starting on 23rd December?)! For many affiliates the sales can prove to be more important that the pre-Christmas “surge”. I use the word “surge” with some trepidation as for us sales were on par with last year, but no Mega Mondays or Super Saturdays!

Anyway enough of this… there’s Christmas stuff to do!

I’d therefore like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas plus a Happy New Year, especially those of you who read One Little Duck and/or have helped and supported Loquax over the last 12 months.

And to make things festive here’s a little bit of Frank Sinatra.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

“football to get depressed too” – with Argyle’s current form, it’ll be a wonder if either team get any points on Boxing Day…
