Where The Devil Are The Sales?

Last week we promoted an offer for Devilwear via Affiliate Future links. No sales were seen, and so naturally it was assumed that none of our users had taken up the offer… until a post appeared saying what a great offer it was and thanks. No sale had been reported on AF, so we asked whether they had gone via cashback… no came the reply. And then more replies appeared.

Now, it’s only 5 sales (the ones we know about) but out of those 5 sales only 1 has been reported on Affiliate Future. That’s 80% of sales missing in terms of tracking (ok this is using stats to exaggerate a point, but it’s 80% too many)! On asking on A4U, two further sales made by other affiliates have also not tracked, but one has… 2 sales out of 7 not tracked .. that is unacceptable.

The question is where is the problem? Devilwear obviously is tracking some sales, as two have gone through, so where the devil have the other sales gone? Is it a merchant issue? Is it a network issue? Is this kind of thing something that happens all the time?

As a site that promotes a lot of merchants how can be assured that every sale we’re truly making is being tracked and that commission is being rewarded accordingly? If a user had not mentioned they’d made the sale we’d been none the wiser that sales were missing! As we can’t ask everytime a user buys anything via our links to let us know, we have to trust networks and merchants to make sure sales are always tracked… but how can you have trust in this system when in this case just 2 sales out of 7 go accordingly.

It does make you wonder if affiliates are receiving what’s due to them and if not why not!?
