Sent by Another Affiliate

“Sent by another affiliate” is a reason given for rejecting sales apparently and it’s not something I fully understand or accept as an excuse for removing a sale. We’ve just removed a merchant because of late every sale seems to be “sent by another affiliate” and therefore rejected. Our conversion rate has dropped from 13% to 3% and whilst the network involved has been swift to write back and offer an explanation from the merchant, the rejection reason tarnishes the affiliate/network/merchant relationship.

I’m now concerned that tracking is questionable. The merchant is on one network and operates an independent program, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to track properly. It’s not a shopping service but a registration program so again if it’s set up properly the right affiliate should get the sale.

However, the biggest concern is how do I know that the merchant knows who is the other affiliate? Is the other affiliate getting the sale? If it’s happens once or twice, but on sales every day then what’s going on? Why is my affiliate code generating leads that are then not being creditted?

As an affiliate you sometimes just have to go with gut feeling and that currently is telling me that something is amiss, the program is poorly managed and that the simplest option is to remove the program and stop promoting.
