On December 7th a one day conference on online bingo, organised by Bullet Business will be taking place in London. According to the site, “it’s the first conference of its kind in Europe and will be the premier meeting place for European bingo operators and affiliates in 2006″.

There are a number of keynote speeches, but the most important session is a panel debate titled “Affiliate marketing in online bingo: Best practices to increase player numbers and drive major revenues acoss the industry”. Chaired by Chris Wesson, the panel features James Little the bingo affiliate manager for St Minver, world renowned “affiliate whore” Kieron Donghue, Jess Luthi from Astro Bingo and me.

According to the agenda we’ll be discussing:

1. Does affiliate marketing need to change when it’s used in the online gaming space?

2. Why tracking the performance of your affiliates is key and will definitely pay off

3. What margins should you be offering those who generate more traffic to your site and more money in your account?

4. Is affiliate marketing the most important part of the marketing mix?

Considering the last conference session I was involved in was on geochemistry, this event should be a lot more interesting and hopefully prove to be quite useful (although as my mum rightly said, all them years spent studying and you end up doing bingo!).

From a Loquax perspective though, this is a nice opportunity to perhaps move away from our “competition site” pigeon hole. Although perhaps this is something that has long gone. In a recent discussion on the site one of our user’s posted that they now see Loquax as “more than a competition site” and if that’s the case then that’s an important achievement in keeping the site moving upwards and onwards.
