Is It Time For Fantasy Affiliate Manager?

With Fantasy Football time about to kick off (and make sure you’ve joined the Affiliates4U League) it got me thinking that perhaps there should be an affiliate version – Fantasy Affiliate Manager! The game would be based on the traditional football version, but instead of footballers participants would need to select “stars” from the world of affiliate marketing.

Participants could be given a virtual £100million to spend on a range of “players” from different aspects of AM!

For example your team could be a selection of an affiliate network, an affiliate blogger, an affiliate agency/manager and a selection of merchants.

Based on their activity on say postings on affiliates4U posters would get points for new merchants and lose points for closed merchants from networks. Closing merchants early, tracking issues and other dubious activity could lose points. Winning awards, setting up new tools for affiliates etc could earn points.

Points for bloggers could come from backs (although that would leave it open to dubious voting – not that that would ever occur in AM) whilst points for agencies and merchants could come from… erm… well you get the idea (it’s a work in progress and at this point I got stuck!).

Valuation of bloggers could be based on Fraser’s new Top Blogs (and there’s no dodgy voting going on there either is there – Mr Cynical), whilst I’m sure there must be some metrics about to offer valuations for networks, agency/managers and merchants.

The question is who would be in your fantasy affiliate manager team?

  • who has got the Luton Town squad then?

  • I’m too polite to name names incase there’s a clash of the media – but there’s some clever networks at large that could be thought of as Luton-esque.
