And The Affiliates4U Award Goes To…. Not Me!

There’s no justice in the world! You agree to take part in A4UExpo as a panelist (session 13 – understanding affiliate relationships) and that doesn’t even swing being a finalist as best affiliate blog in the A4UAwards. I know I got at least one nomination (thanks Jude, nowt like a bit of bias) – it would have been two but somehow it didn’t seem right nominating myself.

So, the chance of affiliate blog glory has passed for another year! In reality the Affiliate Marketing Blog of 2007 was always going to be a two horse race, but I was surprised to not see Lee McCoy’s blog amongst the final group – even more so than the glaring ommitance of this superbly crafted work *lol*.

Affiliate Blog category aside, the rest of the A4U Award Finalists are a mish mash of dead certs, disappointments (imo Webgains deserved nominations) and how the hell did they get there’s. Still, they are the nominations of the industry as a whole and so it’s only right to wish all who made the final listings good luck!

What would be interesting is to see a breakdown of nominations based on merchant, network and affililate votes and just see how distributed (or not) things were. It might explain for example how Jessops are deemed innovative – I’d love to know what they’ve done as nothing immediately comes to mind.

One guy who is innovative when it comes to affiliate marketing is Zak at Prezzybox.

So dedicated is Zak to looking after his affiliates that he, along with girlfriend Bianca, tracked myself and Jude down to The Beatles’ Revolution Lounge in The Mirage in Las Vegas to personally outline Prezzybox’s Christmas Affiliate Promotions*.

This level of service is the new benchmark for all affiliate managers!

*Ok, it’s not true, we just happened to be on holiday in LV at the same time and met up for a couple of beers!

A crying shame you didn’t get nominated for anything Jason – you have a great blog & are certainly one of the most helpful affiliates I’ve come across.

Yeah I agree, you should have nominated, no doubt at all about that. Don’t be disheartened though mate, even though you are the Victor Meldrew of affiliate marketing we wouldn’t have you any other way :)
