A Call For An Affiliate Marketing Amnesty Day!

Back in November I wrote a Wot No Duck Blogging article citing that I was now better organised and getting through work in a much better fashion. Oh, how all that has now changed! I’m now a confused bumbling mess with no direction, happy only in the knowledge that indeed everything does tend towards chaos.

The reasons for the lapse back into this situation can be blamed on two things: Illness and holiday! Man flu, swine flu, bird flu, dog flu, cat flu, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest – I’ve probably had them all and other variants (and now passed them on to Smingle) and that’s pretty much messed up a vast quantity of 2010.

It nearly messed up my January holiday too (I should have gone to prison). The good news was that at the end of February myself and Jude spent a lovely time in San Francisco. Despite making sure blogs and content did update in my absence, getting back on the good ship “Affiliate Marketing” since returning has been a bit of a problem.

The holiday was so good I came back a little bit too chilled out to want to go and dive straight into replying to emails, swapping links, changing networks, deleting programs, updating this, improving that etc. that there’s now a bit of a backlog…. and the backlog is getting bigger and bigger.

A day doesn’t seem to go by now without a program closure, a new program opening, a product feed breaking, a product feed improving, a new widget here, an old widget there, a network merging, a bingo merchant leaving a network to become their own network….arghhhhh!

So please can we have one day (one week would be better) where nothing happens? No one touches anything, everything works, every merchant is happy with their network, all feeds are ok, no one sends an email with a new offer/voucher/bargain… nothing, nada, zilch! All merchants and networks do nothing for one day so that everything in the garden can stay rosey.. at least for 24 hours!

That way I can then try and catch up! I can sort through the umpteen emails that need addressing, delete the merchants who have closed, update ones who have opened, catch up with anything else important … and then (if time is willing) get back to being organised again.

Come to think of it, if I ever get back to that point again I’d probably need a holiday!

Chaos will just have to reign supreme.

  • you might be hard pressed to get one of those days till bank holiday in April! god forbid even December! i totally get how you feel, every time i get back from a holiday longer than a few days, i get totally demotivated, i guess the grass is greener and all that. i tend to end up reverting to my old boarding school habits where everything is timed in 1 hour slots including social and leisure time, that tends to help me get back on the ball.
