Get Organised In Advance For A4UExpo
With just over 2 weeks to go before the second A4UExpo kicks off, now is a good time as any to start getting yourself prepared. It can be a gruelling couple of days of business, socialising and seminars and if you’re not prepared in advance then it can become all very daunting. Here are some useful tips to help you.
1. Don’t be afraid to be away from your computer for a couple of days. There’s free Wifi at the event and there will be computers all around the venue where you’ll be able to top up your monitor tan as and when DTs kick in!
2. Business cards are an essential part of Expo. Order them now! Whilst “I’ll get some done at Paddington Station before I cross London” might seem a good idea - it’s not.
3. Prepare your wardrobe! Attending Expo in your affiliate uniform of pants and tshirt is perhaps not a good business statement. Get yourself some smart but casual clothes! Some comfy footwear is also required as you’ll find yourself stood up for long periods of time.
4. Affiliates aren’t known for physical activity! Being sat at a computer each day is not ideal preparation for Expo. So try and build up your stamina for being stood up for longer than 10 minutes without needing a chair.
5. Dancing is another way to get fit for Expo - it will also come in useful for the evening events when for some insane reason Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” kicks in and before you’re “half way there - woahh - ohhh” you’re on the dance floor armed with air guitar.

6. Make sure you practice your air guitar skills before attending!

7. Alcohol may play some part in the proceedings. So, a couple of drinks each night will help build up your tolerance. Of course you may not drink yourself, but you will need to learn to cope with “socialising” with people who may have partaken of the odd beer or two.
Get a friend to adopt the roll of A4UExpo attendee and try and maintain your serious business face whilst they slur, stagger and repeat several times how they’re going to earn you loads of money.
8. Be prepared to have a good time, and remember to keep hold of your drink!

Thank goodness I read this - I would have definitely turned up without business cards… just like I did last year!
Thanks Jason!
