So Who Is Speaking At A4UExpo 2008?
The good news is that I’m not speaking at A4UExpo 2008 - well good news for me at least as it means I won’t end up in the brown stuff due to lack of communication from would be and ever changing panel members and therefore I’ll have more time to take in stuff from those who have volunteered to take part in this year’s event.
The list of speakers, now totaling 52, can be found at A4UExpo Speakers and there’s a mix of networks, merchants, affiliate managers, SEO people and a smattering of affiliates. How they will all come together to form the highly informative and educational speaking program is no doubt being sorted by the Existem team.
When I looked through the list I have to admit to being a tad disappointed that UK affiliates weren’t represented by the likes of of Paul, Lee, John, Kirsty etc.
There’s some passionate affiliates and affiliate bloggers out there who aren’t backwards in coming forwards with their views about affiliate marketing. It’d have been good to see them up and speaking at A4UExpo representing affiliates and flying the flag a little for the UK.
Perhaps they’re shy or weren’t allowed out to play?
The only UK affiliates in line to speak are Kieron Donoghue, Duncan Jennings and Jamie Harwood. Hopefully I’ll catch their sessions this year and get to ask them really annoying questions (LOL)! Keith Budden and Matt Wood are also listed, although I’m guessing Keith will be wearing an agency hat and Matt will be Master of Ceremony.
Those guys are joined by a host of other star players in the world of affiliate marketing, search and advertising. I only know they’re stars having spent some time reading their biographies and looking at their websites because to be honest (and this probably is indicative of the bubble we live in when it comes to the global affiliate world) I’ve not heard of most of them!
Sounding interesting though from the start is Irfon Watkins of Coull (interactive video advertising), Marcus Tandler of Mediadonis (super affiliate), Alicia Navarro of Skimbit (social decision making tool), Joost de Valk of Onetomarket (Even I’ve heard his name so he must be good), and Matt Bailey of i-Level (only because he writes comments on OLD).
How the sessions will be divided will be interesting. You get the feeling social networking and search will feature heavily whilst a “meet the super affiliates (again - or for the first time if your session collided with their one last year)” session will surely find it’s way on to the agenda.
It all bodes well for another interesting and informative event.

Perhaps we could have had a “Meet the Bloggers” session, but we’d all moan so much people would be filing out of excel and jumping into the Thames lol…
“Perhaps they’re shy or weren’t allowed out to play?” - Shy is my excuse. I’ve always hated public speaking, and always will. You’ll never get me speaking at one of these events, and I take my hat off to all those brave enough to do it.

In all seriousness I think the session we’ll be doing will be very interesting for merchants and affiliates alike. Look forward to seeing you and Jude there.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know (apparently)

David - seriously?? Did you see how many times that Matt asked on the forum and on the Existem blog for speaker invitations?? ANYBODY could have applied to either speak at the Expo or take part in some way. And knowing Matt as I do, he would gladly accept you if you were qualified enough in your chosen sector and wanted to participate.

Hi Jason, thanks for the post

The speaker line-up this year has once again been a challenge as Affiliate Marketing continues to evolve.I have been adding speakers on a near daily basis recently, with more to be added this morning. We’ve not quite finished yet either with a number of affiliates and other key figures to be added.
As Kieron says, the majority of people who submitted a proposal, picked up the phone or emailed me have been included within the agenda in addition to a number of people I have approached personally.
Its just that many affiliates don’t like public speaking, For instance I have tried to get John on-board a number of times

Keep an eye on the a4uexpo website in the next day or so, we’ll hopefully put the final pieces of the jigsaw together and release the agenda.August 7th, 2008 at 7:49 am -

Meet the Bloggers could have been a good session… except people would know where we’d be at a specific time and it’d probably be like angry mob armed with pitched forks and torches chasing Frankenstein!
Besides we’d not be able to give answers other than “see my blog tomorrow’!

Seriously now, it’s a shame few affiliates are willing to do a bit of public speaking - it’s a good way of getting to promote yourself as well as bore people to death for 30 minutes.August 7th, 2008 at 11:52 am -

Now I was thinking about this the other day, and the thought of speaking publicly makes me feel really ill!
However, I’d love to do a more intimate type session like “meet the bloggers” or “affiliate marketing - the basics” with a small group in a sort of tutorial format. I could do that, but not the big flash presentation or talking in front of loads of folk. I’d die off!!

My session last year was intimate - it was everyone who couldn’t get in the “meet the supers” session… all 4 of em (ok slightly more than 4).
If you’re talking to a small group, you can talk to a big one - panel sessions are easier - as it means you only have to a 1/4 of the talking.
You should go for it… show some slides of your travels

Nope. Haven’t heard a thing. Given I check the forum a few times a day and I subscribe to the RSS feed, I’m surprised I didn’t hear a thing.

Disappointed? Did you know I’ve been asked to be part of a panel Jason… and I am known ain’t backwards in coming forwards with my views
Seriously I didnt really want to, but have been asked by a few people now, so feel that I may have to give in to the pressure and be a member on a panel. I too am up for being part of meet the bloggers - should be interesting couple of days

Dunno what I’m talking about. I just hope that I have a big red button and when someone starts asking questions or moaning, I can press it making a really loud “nerrrrrrrrrrrr” noise and a big letter X appearing over their head
I sincerely hope to see “Lynch the Buggers” as an evening activity. I certainly have a few merchant nominations and a network nomination for this one
