![]() | Scottish Power Implement Phone Sale Tracking |
Following the anouncement last week that Vodafone are trialling telephone sale tracking, news reaches us that Scottish Power, via Buy.at, are “delighted to bring to you the addition of telephone tracking to the Scottish Power programme. This is an industry leading service and the first time this has been implemented in the utilities sector and is expected to have a massive impact on your sales”.
This is fantastic news for affiliates promoting this kind of merchant!
The tracking is already live and it will be interesting to see how these changes influence conversion rates.
According to the email the tracking works as follows: “All affiliate landing pages will route through to a landing page that includes a telephone number, which is unique to the affiliate channel and has our (Buy.at’s) unique P36 code in place. This code will be unique to every click and if the customer calls the call centre, they will be asked for the code and the call centre will action the sale. The sale will then be recorded in the management area in real time. The call centre will be taking calls between 1pm and 9pm Monday – Friday initially and is advertised on the site”.

The image above shows the location of the reference code that customers need to quote after following an affiliate link to the Scottish Power website. I’d personally prefer to see it slightly larger and more visible in the centre of the screen under the “call us for a quote”!
