A flotilla of yellow rubbers ducks are apparently on their way to the UK according to a recent article in The Sunday Mirror! After 14 years of bobbing around the ocean, the ducks that fell off a container ship are now expected to be heading to our shores in the next year. The ducks feature in a Radio 4 program that went out today (July 29th) called The Invasion of Yellow Ducks (you can listen to it online). Apparently the ducks have been helping scientists study how the ocean currents of the North Pacific really work.
The ducks aren’t alone either! The Mail on Sunday report that the ducks are accompanied by green frogs, blue turtles and red beavers (make your own jokes). Whilst trying to find a picture of the ducks bobbing around on the ocean waves I did find more information on the research by Dr Curtis Ebbesmeyer, but sadly no pictures of the flotilla!
Staying with adventurous ducks, our own Duck Holiday site does need updating and new photos uploading (like the one below). Ducks are still heading out, but there’s fewer participants these days! Whipping out a yellow duck and taking a picture isn’t always easy and does generate some strange looks!
