It Pays to Pay Affiliates

Probably the most important part of being an affiliate is being paid for generating leads. After all we’re not really supposed to be working for free. With so many networks and various independent programs it does help if the payment process is also nice and simple (self invoicing for example). So it was with some surprise this week to be asked by an independent bingo program for details of our Netteller account (we don’t have one). For reasons that baffle me they won’t send a cheque, but they will do a bankwire.

Now that sounds ok except they have terms attached to this… they’ll only pay once we’ve earnt £1000 with them. Most programs have minimum payment but this seems a tad bit high to me, especially as on their site the terms and conditions state that the minimum payment is £35! And they’re expecting us to put banners back up! They’re having a laugh.

We are as a business accountable and therefore the easier the paper trail for accounting the better. The simplest and best approach is we earn money, money goes into business account monthly. Why that is a puzzle for some I just don’t know. As is we have earnt a few quid but getting it is going to be I guess quite tough (and email has gone requesting payment) - my guess is that they won’t pay us until we send them more business and we won’t send them more business because they’re not paying! It’s far more productive to send traffic to a merchant that actually pays affiliates!
