The A4UForum Get2Gether at The Roof Gardens in London on September 15th promises to be an interesting event - and I’ll be there with Jude to have a few drinks and hopefully meet up with people and maybe even get some business stuff done. Thanks to the fuel protests we’re now coming in by train (which is £38 return from Swansea - booked the tickets online Monday and they arrived today - although the Trainline sale didn’t track on TD).
Networking is not my favourite pastime though - days spent listening to crusty old professors or oil company types simply because you might want a bit of funding rather than you’re actually interested in what they’re saying has warped my fragile little mind.
That said, on the most part the affiliate meetings are good humoured, and whilst there have been changes over the years in size (around 400 delegates for the meeting) and mood (more business like imo) they are worth the effort of attending - plus it’s good to meet up with other affiliates and catch up with the gossip.
Most certainly DGM will be a hot potato and apparently there will be someone talking about the recent events at the meeting, although I hope the meeting doesn’t become dominated by DGM - I for one don’t want to waste too much time discussing their many failings.
My aim will be to try and spend time on more positive and productive matters and talk to merchants and other networks like Brandconversions, OMG, Silvertap and Paid on Results.
Anyway, best go and pack. By a miracle of biblical proportions Jude has managed to get organised and pack things before me… this must be a first for the Affiliate Cardinal ;o)
