Strange 5 Minutes! June 2nd, 2005 1:44 pm

Amazing what happens in a space of 5 minutes!

First we got an email from someone who had received a prize winning phone call and had been told they’d won £7000 and to dial a number. Subsequently they spent £12, hadn’t won and been scammed. Why people fall for it I don’t know, but they do! Anyway the irate person, obviously upset, emails Loquax and tells us it’s our fault and we should be arrested! The fact we don’t do phone calls, run a company that does phone calls, or have anything to do with their problem is irrelevant.

Second email came from a journalist wanting to do an interview for CNN about online poker. Not sure why they picked us but anyway it’s not something I’m able to do, but I did pass them on to someone who should be able to help.

The last one came from a siteowner whose win a property style site has not been listed on Loquax. It’s amazing how polite people are until you say no to them - then they turn into screeching banshees - probably because their entire business plan revolves around getting competition entries!

Personally I’m fed up of seeing these win a house/car/expensive item type competitions where people are charged £10 upwards for entry into a prize draw. In every case we’ve known so far online not one house has been given away as the number of entries has failed to reach the set level! The site in question looked amateurish and i’ll be amazed if they sell 1 ticket let alone the number required to giveaway the house!

So there you go, 5 minutes of site admin - irate users, interesting emails, and a screeching banshee with a second rate website!! Who said a website owners life was dull.
