Thanks to Rich for helping me find out the affiliate url behind the tinyurl posted on our forum this week. There was a TD code and the cheeky blighters even put an epi code in of ‘duckegg’!! Anyway they’re now the duckeggs because TD have been notified. What was surprising though was the affiliate behind it… all we can say is they were definately after a quick quid ;o)
Thanks also to Keith for commenting on the ‘affiliate/merchant’ dating idea - it will be interesting to see what develops. Wouldn’t it be great to see the main networks fund something like this though… a few thousand a year from each of them could generate much more in the way of business and happy partnerships.
I do sometimes think we (Loquax) don’t take a more active role in affiliate marketing - especially when some affiliates attend things like round tables and discuss the current issues and future developments. But, I’m not a ‘London’ person and sadly there’s a lot of meetings there so attending is often difficult.
I’m not so concerned about not having views heard - more a case of I’d like to know more so I can form better views. A lot of affiliate marketing (for a lot of affiliates) is self taught or stumbled across, and issues/problems tend to be kept quietly discussed amongst a few when they may effect the many.
