Surely it’s not too difficult a task to find a product feed that is useable from one of the top online gadget sites? Well, is it?

Here’s the requirement - a gadget product feed from either Firebox, Boys Stuff or I Want One of Those. It needs to be up to date and properly categorised - so that’s Firebox off the list as according to their info on DGM it was last updated in November. Boys Stuff have updated so let’s try them… hold on there’s no images! So what about IWOOT - well yes it’s up to date, but a lot of the image links are broken and there’s 70 (about 15% of the feed) without descriptions.

(IWOOT should really be I Want One of Those - whilst being so much easier to write apparently using IWOOT deviates from their branding or something fancy someone dreamt up probably at the expense of completing their product feed).

So, where now for that feed. Affiliate Window have an updated Firebox feed, but the categorisation is their own and not quite right for what we need - the same problem applies for other gadget stores.

Affiliate Future offers no options either - and despite having Firebox and IWOOT on their books, neither have a downloadable product feed on this network.

Tradedoubler also have Gadgetstuff (which is Boys Stuff) but their feed is designed for their own system and again that’s not quite right (but at least it has images which is a bonus).

So, there we go - lots of feeds and none quite right - the basics are there on a couple of networks, but out of date feeds and broken images shouldn’t be an issue. With more affiliates utilising feeds networks & merchants need to be on top providing the best quality they can otherwise affiliates will just move to another merchant or network to find what they need….. provided they can get it elsewhere that is!
